Plants

My Lettuce
Hey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about four facts I learned from the plants unit.

One thing I learnt was photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the way plants make food for itself. Another thing I learnt was that a stamen is the male part of a plant and gives out pollen. A third thing is that a pistil is the female part and it takes in pollen. The last thing I learnt is that plant take in carbon dioxide and breathes out oxygen.

Term 4 Goals

Hey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about my goals I want to accomplish before the end of the year. For my academic goal I have learnt lots about plants but I still want to learn more. For my catholic character goal I have already helped some people but I want to help more people. For my Social goal I have made people laugh and I'd like to continue that. For my physical goal I am doing my best in tennis and I went to Inter zone athletics. For my cultural goal I still need to improve on my art.

Speech Comp!!! Yay...?

Hey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about my preparations for the speech competition. I've learnt all of it off by heart but I taught myself to do it with cue cards that I can't do it with out it. For my presentation I need to work on not fidgeting and not stutter my words.

My favourite picture book when I was younger was...
I don't think I had one because I didn't read much when I was younger. My favourite author right now is Kevin Brooks because he writes books that have action and mystery in it and I like those kinds of books.  The best book I've read this year is probably The Ultimate Truth by Kevin Brooks.
<--------------------------------------------------------------------
I would recommend it to people who like action and mystery books.

Hello... its me... I've been wondering... Wait this isn't sponsored... OK... Anyway...
I'm back and today I'll be talking about the Production which went great by the way. My roles in the production was microphones and M-Team Voice over. I enjoyed everything about my roles in the production. A highlight for me was when the production ended and we all went back to our changing rooms and chanted 'WAISAKE NAHOLO' and clapping along to it. Probably the funniest moment in the production is when Iraklis fell off the chair. I don't think I would have wanted to do anything differently.

Famous Quotes

Image result for gandiHey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about a famous quote from a famous person. That quote is "A weak man is just by accident. A strong but non-violent man is unjust by accident" it was said by Mahatma Gandi. This quote appeals to me because Gandi was a peaceful man who spoke of what was right and this quote explains this very well.

Sorry for the short post but there wasn't much to write about so I'll see you guys next time.

Space Right Now

Image result for osiris-rexHey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about what's happening in space right now. The topic I'll be talking about is OSIRIS-REx.

OSIRIS-REx is the first asteroid sampling mission by NASA. Launched at 7:05pm EDT on the 8th of September 2016, OSIRIS-REx is on a mission to rendezvous with the asteroid Bennu. Bennu is the size of a small mountain and is located between Venus and Mars. Every six years Bennu has a close encounter with Earth and in 2135 it will come very close, just within the Moon's orbit. OSIRIS-REx will orbit the sun for a year then, using Earth's gravity, it will sling itself to Bennu. It is expected to approach Bennu in 2018 and in 2020, perform a maneuver in which it will collect samples of the asteroid. In September 2023 OSIRIS-REx will return the samples back to Earth.

Time Management

Image result for timeHey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about my time management skills. I usually complete all my work at school but then if it's a week with lots of tasks I bring home work to complete at home. I try to always make  the most out of my time at school. Some thing that help me to concentrate is that at the end of the week, if you've finished your tasks, you can play dodge ball and this is why I always try to finish my tasks. Some things that make it difficult is when you're with you friends because you always want to talk to them and it stops you from getting your work done. To overcome this difficulty I can move away from my friends and work somewhere else so I can finish my tasks.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.

DANCING!!!

Image result for breakdancing jabbawockeez
JabbaWockeez
Hey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about the dancing we are doing for our production. There are two songs we'll be dancing to. Those two songs are Robin Hood and No Money. There both great songs and fun to dance to. Robin Hood has many different dance moves and a funny chicken wing part. No money is a fun and more recent song with a cool feel to it.

My favourite song is No money because it's the most recent out of the two and has a sick beat. To make the dance a success we all need to practice and make sure we all do the bast we can.

Some News...

Hey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about some current news. But first the answer to my riddle. It's a . . .

PHONE

Anyway... that piece of news is about a second 'mini' moon. This 'second moon' has been looping earth for at least a century. But researchers aren't calling this a moon. Instead they call it an asteroid which has been called 2016 H03. The 2016 H03 doesn't actually loop around earth, it actually orbits the sun. Scientists say that 2016 H03 spends half its orbit closer to the sun than earth. Also because of Earth's gravitational pull, 2016 H03 never wanders more than 40,000,000km from our planet. But this is not the first time Earth's gravitational pull has dragged in a companion. In 2003 an asteroid named 2003 YN107 displayed a similar orbital pattern. However it has disappeared or at least from what we can see. But NASA researchers say that this will not happen with 2016 H03 because they believe it is 'Locked on to' Earth.

Riddle Me This...

Hey guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about... well if I think about it I don't have to talk about anything I actually only have to do a riddle. So here's the riddle I made...

I can move but not by my own choice,
When I'm touched I can do different things,
Some people are angry when I'm around,
I can be seen in many different ways,
I can die and come back alive,
What am I?

So that was the post for this week and I'll post the answer next week. See Ya.

Olympic Rugby Women Sevens

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about the only Olympic event that I've been able to watch. The Womens Rugby Sevens. The third place match was Great Britain against Canada. Canada won 33 - 10. The first and second place match was between Australia and New Zealand. Australia won, sadly, 24 - 17. So Bronze went to Canada, Silver to New Zealand and Gold to Australia.

Its an exciting sport because I enjoy watching rugby. I was already an expert on the sevens so I didn't learn anything about it.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.

Book Groups

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about book groups. If you've seen or been in a book group before it's pretty much the same thing. You talk about a book and you set check points in the book where you have to read to before the next meeting. You also have snacks but for our book groups we have to unlock it first. In my book group are Fraser, Jesse, Iraklis and Dhyanesh. Our book group is reading Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. I've done book groups before and so has everyone else in my group, so we know that it's fun. The reason for this is that we get to stop school work and we talk about a book that we all enjoy. Our book groups is going well and we all really want to unlock snacks. Something that will make our book groups better is if we all waited for each other to finish talking before we spoke to each other.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next week.

Medieval Week!

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about Medieval Week (Which was last week). We did lots of fun things last week like having a giant minecraft Capture the Flag. We made medieval villages in minecraft over the  five weeks before the Capture The Flag. Another thing we did was that we were put into groups to research a certain topic about the medieval times. I was in a group with Fraser, Liam and Jack. We also had to teach the class about the topic we picked. The topic we picked was torture. No we are not weird for picking a gruesome topic (as some people might think that) we are courageous and amazing! Anyway...

Our lesson went well and when we explained how the torture devices worked we put nightmares in peoples mind. Something that went well was that we all remembered our lines and our power point went smoothly. Our quiz was good and everybody got the questions right. Something we could have done better is doing something other than a quiz because everybody did a quiz. An alternative could have been that you had to do something or you would get punished. The lesson I enjoyed the most was about the medieval knights. I liked this lesson because the end activity wasn't a quiz. It was a jousting contest where the one person was a horse and the other was the knight/jouster. The knight got on top of the horse and the horse went on to its knees and hands. Then the horse crawled forward while the knight, who was holding a cushion as a shield and a noodle as a weapon, tried to knock over the other knight and horse. The first person to fall off their horse or if the horse fell over, was the loser.

Kapa Haka

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about Kapa Haka. Every afternoon, on Wednesdays, we do Kapa Haka. In Kapa Haka we learn different Maori songs and learn many different actions to the words. It's a very fun thing to do and I look forward to learn more every Wednesday afternoon.

Something I find easy about doing Kapa Haka is learning the actions. I always do my best to try and make the actions bold and realistic. Something difficult about Kapa Haka is trying to say the words and doing the actions all at the same time. It's difficult because I can't remember the actions most of the time and we have to pay attention to the words because it's in Maori and I don't speak Maori. I can improve my performance by listening more and practicing some of the actions.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.

MINECRAFT STUFF

100 times better than ours
(BUT WERE KIDS WERE NOT AS GOOD AS THESE PEOPLE)
Hi guys and I'm back talking about  our...

MEDIEVAL
MINECRAFT
VILLAGE!!!

It's going pretty well apart from the fact that nobody is really working together.
But overall it's okay.

Our village is pretty accurate to the history of the Medieval Times but somethings in our village isn't that accurate like in the castle people were going to put ladders in the corner towers of the castle but back in medieval times it was a spiral staircase. We've fixed that already. Something I like about the village is the prison. It has lots of cool and unique features. We still need to work on the castle... a lot. The castle already has a lot of progress but there is still lots to work on. Two more thing I still need to do is help finish the roads and help finish the castle.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.

ELECTIVES

Hi guys and today I'll be talking about the first few weeks of electives. Electives happens every year in term 2 and every other year in term 3. Electives is where students choose different activities to do every Friday. I chose sport as my elective.

In the first week we did volleyball which wasn't that fun to be honest. But the last two weeks were amazing. In the second week we played different team games like Capture The Flag, Kill the Cone and Doctors. They were all fun to play, The recent week of electives was last week and we did four corner sport. It was the best so far. In four corner sport there is four teams and four corners hence, four corner sport. Each person in the group is given a number. Number one is the shortest/youngest kid, depending on how the teams were made, and the numbers go up until the tallest/oldest kid has been counted.

The first few weeks have been fun and enjoyable. I haven't learnt much these past few weeks because well... it's sport there isn't really anything to be learnt. It was definitely what I was expecting, fun and BANTER. I can do my best in everything I do and listen so we have more time to play.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.

Castle Stuff

An Amazing Castle (That we didn't make)
Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about the castle building I did last week. We were split into different groups and I was in a group with Liam, Fraser and Jesse. We built the castle 3D and the material we used was card. We worked together by halving the work in two where two people do one thing and the other two do another thing. We made decisions by talking to each other and asked each other what we could do the best to help with the castle. A problem we had was that we talked too much about something that didn't involve the castle building at all. We fixed this problem by having a moment and talked to each other to stop and get on with our work.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next week.

Cross Country

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about everyone's favorite...
Banter
Cross Country!!!
Technically some people don't like it (that includes myself) but I don't really mind running it.
The cross country is fun but it's very exhausting. I enjoyed the cross country and I was 3rd so I'll be running in the northern zone cross country. Which is weird because two years ago I was always eighth or ninth! My other compatriots to go to the northern zones are Liam who came first, James in second, Fraser in fourth and Haveesha in fifth.

I showed lots of perseverance because about 500 meters into the race, that's a quarter of the course, I wanted to quit. But I persevered and forced myself to not stop running and it got me third. Haveesha also showed perseverance because he was in front of me until just before the end but he got a stitch and persevered and he got fifth.

I saw many people show empathy because everyone supported and encouraged each other which was a nice thing to see.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.

Allegiant (This post is not sponsored :( )

Hi guys I'm back, after the holidays, and today I'll be talking about a movie I watched in the holidays. That movie is Allegiant. I've watched Divergent and Insurgent the two movies that came out before this final movie.

The plot of the movie is that Tris, a divergent, and her four accomplices are trying to run from their city of destroyed Chicago and find civilization outside the walls. They eventually found civilization but the people there are doing bad things and they try to erase the memory of everyone in Chicago. So they go back to try and save them. Sorry if I got anything wrong but overall it was an amazing movie.

One thing I liked about the movie were the fights in it. The fights are detailed to perfection and it looks like the fight is actually real! Another thing I liked was the whole plot for all three movies. They all worked together and flowed together nicely. The whole set of movies is a great series to watch.

I give this movie a 5 star rating.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next week.

HOLIDAYS!!!

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be reflecting on this term. So I've achieved lots this term and one of those thing is a Merit badge. In year 7 and 8 you can earn three different levels of badges Credit, Merit and Excellence. The first level is Credit, then it's Merit and the top level is Excellence. I'm really proud of my Merit and I hope I can get my Excellence in the coming terms.

Another thing that was a highlight this term is dodge ball. This year I have a good team for dodge ball (not saying my team was bad last year) and we have won the cup (that is non existent) every time except two times we've lost it.

There was lots of other highlights I had this term but for now that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next term.

Learning Stuff

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about three thing I've learnt so far this year. This first thing I already knew but I learned more about it. It was trust. At Hillary Outdoors what we learned most about the whole week was trust. Different activities helped me learn to trust people that I had never trusted before. The activity that helped with our trust the most was probably the high ropes because everyone had to be lay and if we didn't do it properly we would have probably died. Just Saying.

Cheezburger science
The second thing I learnt this year is how to separate sand and salt. I was in a group with Liam and Fraser for the experiment. What we did was that we put cold water into the cup where the sand and salt was then, we put it into a coffee strainer then we put all the water into another cup and we made salty water. Afterwards we put the salty water into a pan that was on a cooker and we evaporated the water into steam and the salt stayed in the pan as wet salt.

The third thing I learnt was that being a year 8 is harder than being a year 7 because you're expected to be role models and that teachers expect your work is amazing.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.bye peace goodbye farewell im out

5 day Easter Holiday

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking my Easter weekend. Every Easter our  family is really busy because we run liturgies, go to masses and we also do the Visita Iglesia. Visita Iglesia is a tradition usually done on the evening of Holy Thursday, but we did it early on Good Friday. We did it with our prayer group and went around seven churches. We did two stations, from the stations of the cross, in each church then afterwords we went to St Thomas Moore church in Wilton for the Veneration of the Cross.

On Saturday we stayed at home because it was Black Saturday and just did homework and watched TV. On Easter Sunday we went to mass and we went to church early because we were choir. After the mass we went to a friends house to have lunch then went to a meeting in another house before coming back home. On Monday I played on my tablet and we also went to watch Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. On Tuesday I played with my friends and went to a movie fundraiser. The movie was Kung Fu Panda 3. In the whole Easter weekend the time that I made someone feel good  was probably when our family bought a new desk and we had to set it up and it took us a long time but we did it. We were all happy and proud of what we had achieved.

So that was the post for this week and I'll see you guys next time.

Hillary Outdoors Camp

Hi guys I'm back from my week off and today I'll be talking about why I didn't post last week,
CAMP!!!

All the year 8s went to Hillary Outdoors Camp on Monday and left school at 9:55. We did lots of fun and different activities there as well. The most challenging thing I did there was probably the high ropes because I am a little bit scared of heights. Each activity at the high ropes pushed me to do my best. The first one, jumping to another platform, was the easiest but I had to push myself to do it. The second one, the slowly moving log, was one I set a goal for. My goal was to get to the other side... by just standing up, without holding anything. I managed to do it and I was really proud of myself. The third one and my personal favourite, The rock climbing line of death, It was definitely the hardest one because you had to have really good grip strength and really good upper body strength. Some of the rock climbing rocks could be twisted so it was hard for my feet to stay on it.

One thing I found easy was the low ropes because it was only a meter off the ground and I trusted my group entirely...well...maybe not. The activities were what I expected but the experience wasn't what I was expecting at all. Like teamwork went to a whole new level and communication also went to another level. So it was a very good learning curve. My proudest moments were when I went first in most of the caving challenges and picked the hardest one. I also got to experience it first as well. My favourite moment was bridge jumping. I had no fear walking up to the bridge and once you jump you feel like the whole world stopped. You can hear your heart beating and everything goes silent...
SPLASH!!!
And all of a sudden you're in the water, just with a click of a finger.

So that was the post for this week and answer the poll on the right >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I don't know if the polls still up but if it is please answer it and until next time

Hi guy I'm back and today I'll be talking CAMP!!! Next week The year 8s and I will be going to Camp at Hillary Outdoors near Taupo. I'm looking forward to being with my friends for a week and being away from my parents for a week...

lol wwe john cena sarcastic the miz
Anyway it's going to be fun doing activities with my friends. On my way there I'm going in Jesse's car with Jesse (of course), Liam, Fraser, Henry and Harry. My cabin group has all of us who went in Jesse's car and a few other boys. The things I'm most nervous about is probably cleaning the toilet (I feel like this is every ones worry). I can make camp fun and enjoyable with jokes.
Me: Why did the chicken cross the road?
You: I don't know
Me: I don't know too

Anyway so that was the post for this week and next week I'll be on camp so I won't be posting.

Duolingo

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking Duolingo. Duolingo is a website where you can learn different languages. So far I am 16% fluent in Spanish 3% more than Fraser (<<Click on his name and you can got to his blog). What I like about it is you can friend other people and see how much xp your friends have on a leader board. I'm up to 'time' in Duolingo and probably the hardest for me was conjunctions. The reason it was hard for me is that I didn't know you had to put extra words into the sentence and sometimes change around words. This has definitely helped me learn Spanish. Most words I can remember but some I forget so I check it by hovering over the words with my mouse. Probably a tip to remember is probably doing the test over again so each word gets stuck in your mind.

So that was the post for this week and sorry for the people who looked at last weeks post early I forgot I hadn't put the poll up yet. So the poll is now on the right side >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
After you finish reading pls answer the poll, other than that I'll see you guys next week :)

TECH

Hi guys I'm back and today I'll be talking about Tech at Mt Cook School. There are five classes Electronics, Woodwork, Sewing, Movie Making and Cooking. I'm in Cooking. Out of the two weeks we have been to tech we have made bread and samosas. We'll be making lots of different food over the coming weeks and next week we'll be making curry. I'm looking forward to electronics and wood works. I'm looking forward to electronics because in year 8 I'm pretty sure we're making cars and it sounds like fun. I'm also looking forward to wood works because we'll be making battle ships which sounds cool.

I'm the guy who flips because I'm awesome

I'm here to talk about how the beginning of the year has gone for me. So far I've enjoyed playing dodgeball against the other classes. We haven't lost a game yet this year...

I had to save our team against Room 12 the two times we went against them. I'm getting pretty well with my time management skills. I also can't wait untill camp because the Year 8s from last year had told me a bit about it.
If you enjoyed this post comment it down below and I'll see you guys next time. Till then...
